Facility Details Gulf Coast Medical Center is a 176 bed full-service, acute care, Med/Surg hospital located on the beautiful Gulf of Mexico serving the 154,000 residents of Bay County. Located in the North Florida Panhandle, this facility offers a Level II Neonatal ICU and Neonatal Transport Team, an American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer approved cancer program, a Rehab Center, a Wound Care Center, emergency room, OB/GYN, ICU, a full range of surgical services, and a wide range of ancillary support. Panama City's attributes provide a highly attractive living environment compatible with a variety of tastes and life styles. This area offers a pleasant climate, affordable housing, fresh and salt-water fishing, water sports, golf, performing arts and museums. In addition, the area is home to Florida State University/Panama City Campus, Gulf Coast Community College, and excellent public school system and several private and parochial schools in a safe, pleasing environment for raising a family. Tyndall Air Force Base encompasses nearly 29,000 acres in Southeastern Bay County and houses three operational runways. Tyndall supports 76 F-15 Eagles, 8 F/A-22 Raptors, and 2 E-94 aircraft. The facility also uses 10 watercraft to recover its 73 assigned missiles and drowns. The Naval Support Activity is also located on 648 acres of waterfront property along St. Andrews Bay and the Gulf of Mexico in Panama City Beach. NSA is the Navy’s premier diving and salvage research, development, testing and training site. Both military facilities have a significant economic impact on the area. |
